Just like Yammer people are passionate about Yammer, so are SharePoint people.

…Yammer is that over the last few years, Microsoft pushed Yammer hard and then failed to support it. Yes, that’s a product issue, but looking beyond that, it feels like some MVPs are still angry about the attitude, about being pushed hard to adopt.

Jeremy, it’s a bit rich to call for shame on people not giving opinions openly.

Just like Yammer people are passionate about Yammer, so are SharePoint people. I would extrapolate that Yammer was positioned as a “replacement” for SharePoint because SharePoint failed in some way, shape or form.
